Notes On The Recordings...

Chichester Psalms mvt. II: I performed this movement a handful of times as a kid. It was my first concert solo experience, seminal to my upbringing as a performing artist, and I've always loved Leonard Bernstein and this piece as a result. I am not sure who the choir & orchestra are on this recording - no one labeled the file, and I was 9… I will do some research and potentially return to edit this section.

Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mine: This is a piece by Michael Praetorius off of the album “Small Wonder” by The Combined Choirs of St. Paul's K Street, Washington D.C. I was about 9 when this was recorded and released, and you can hear my recorded debut on this track - see if you can guess which of the four boys that sing is me! [the full album is available on Spotify and other streaming services]

Good King Wrenceslas: While I was in college, a good friend of mine suggested I do an arrangement of this Christmas Classic. I first brought it to one of William & Mary's a cappella groups, The Christopher Wren Singers, who I later went on to direct my senior year. This recording was part of an album we recorded in Spring 2011, my final semester, called “A Few Good Wrens”… listen for more Christopher Wren-lated puns if you dare…

Ramblin' Rover: In high school, a teacher that knew I loved music handed me a mysterious CD one day. It was by a band called Silly Wizard, so I was immediatley intrigued. This song was our favorite on the CD, which turned out to be a live recording of the silly wizards themselves. I arranged it for my high school mens' choir, H-B Woodlawn's iconic Members Only. This recording is again by The Christopher Wren Singers, and the arrangement is for SATB voices instead of TTB whippersnappers.

Sunrise: I was in a number of bands in my youth. We had all kinds of names - Scorched Earth, Kelsey's Fried Chicken [KFC], Doofi [Plural of Doofus] - and each holds a special place in my heart. This recording is of my band The Suedes. The person you hear singing lead is Jack Crawford-Brown, someone I'm still working with to this day with The Tumblers. This song stands out as an early example of our musical connection & synergy.

Guy Love: The Jack section continues!! In an entirely different vein, Jack and I sang this cherished duet from the t.v. show [scrubs] at our high school Cabaret night when we were freshmen.

Williamsburg Rap: My composition class at W&M: every week, we were assigned a different genre to study and had to write a song. I did not think I would enjoy writing a rap song / rapping, but found a way to get into it. My friend J-Diz features heavily.
