Emerson Sieverts [he/him/his] is devoted to the ethos of music making. A versatile choral musician, he has performed as both a tenor and countertenor with some of New York’s finest ensembles, including Clarion Music Society, Tenet, American Classical Orchestra, Pomerium Musices, St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, Temple Emanuel, Fourth Wall Ensemble, and The Bach Vespers Series at Trinity Lutheran Church. He is also a regular member of the Choir at Temple Emanu-El
His original musical Me Prometheus (co-written with Simon Riker) enjoyed a sold-out run at the New York Theatre Festival in 2017. He also enjoys engraving & arranging, and his version of “Good King Wenceslas” was published under the Jeffrey Benson Choral Series by Gentry Publications. He appeared frequently with the Brooklyn-based musicians’ collective Apartment Sessions, collaborates with songwriter Jack Crawford-Brown as a member of The Tumblers, and is the bassist for New York’s preeminent underwater punk-pop power trio, Imitation Crab.
Emerson studied Music and graduated Cum Laude with Highest Honors from The College of William & Mary in 2015. While attending W&M, he studied Classical Voice with Ryan Fletcher, Piano, Organ & Harpsichord with Thomas Marshall, and Jazz Piano with Eric Lyttle. He was a member of The W&M Appalachian Music Ensemble, directed two student run a cappella groups (The Stairwells & The Christopher Wren Singers), and played two seasons for Darkhorse Ultimate before retiring from the sport. He was born and raised in Arlington, Virginia, and is a proud graduate of H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program. In his free time, he enjoys grilling sausages, fish, and vegetables, spending time with his best friends, and watching Columbo.
